PANJIM: Suresh Bhangui, General Secretary, Goa Table Tennis Association, passed away on May 25 following a stroke and was cremated on Tuesday afternoon.
He survived by his wife Usha, son Gaurang and daughter Priyanka.

Bhangui was closely associated with table tennis since last few decades, formerly as a player and later as part of the Executive Committee holding various posts. During the current tenure, he held the post of Secretary.
GTTA President Vero Nunes recalled his long standing association with Bhangui with fondness. “Bhangui was a very able administrator who served Goa Table Tennis Association very efficiently for many years. He was the Secretary when Goa hosted the prestigious Asian Youth Table Tennis championships in 97 and was a prominent and hardworking organising committee member during various National and International championships held in Goa during past years. We will miss him”.
Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI) released its message of condolence paying flowing tributes to Bhangui. “It was, indeed, shocking news for all of us at the TTFI and the table tennis fraternity to know that our dear friend and an esteemed colleague, Suresh Bhangui, is no more. An able and meticulous administrator that he was, Bhangui had served the cause of Goa Table Tennis for 16 years as secretary of the Goa Table Tennis Association. A kind-hearted person, always willing to help, will be missed by all his friends and those who had been associated with him, especially the players that benefited from his vision and forbearance.
We remember distinctly his organisational skills when Goa organised several zonal, national, international competitions—and, all to perfection. A retired banking officer—he was Manager at SBI—Bhangui was a dedicated person and his vibrant presence at all events that Goa had conducted was felt. His absence caused by the sudden departure will be difficult to assimilate. Bhangui’s contribution during the Lusofonia Games will be recalled with fondness.
Goa Table Tennis Association will also take some time before it could absorb the irreparable loss. An affable personality, we in TTFI will always remember Bhangui’s association. We pray to God for his soul to Rest in Peace”, read the condolence message released by TTFI.
The Goa Olympic Association (GOA) joined in expressing condolences. “Very sad to hear the passing away of Suresh Bhangui. Great loss to Table Tennis and the sporting fraternity of Goa. We pray for the peace of the departed soul and to give strength to the family members to bear this great loss with fortitude. RIP”, said Gurudatta Bhakta, Secretary General, Goa Olympic Association.
