Guardian Angel, Adarsh triumph

Guardian Angel Higher Secondary, Curchorem and Adarsh Higher Secondary, Vazangal- Shiroda romped into the semi-finals of Zone IV inter-higher secondary football tournament at Tilamol Panchayat ground, Quepem on Monday.
A fine brace by Ashwin Godinho helped Guardian Angel to rout Pope John XXIII Higher Secondary, Quepem 5-0. The winners led 2-0 at half time.
Len Fernandes drew first blood in the 10th minute off a pass from Rolland Fernandes. Fifteen minutes later Josney Baretto doubled the lead with a stiff shot.
Crossing over, Guardian Angel’s Ashwin Godinho added his name on the scorers list. Vishal made it 4-0 while Ashwin Godinho drove the last nail into Pope John’s coffin.
Adarash thrashed Government Higher Secondary, Sanguem 5-1. Adarsh tormented the rivals with Guruprasad Naik striking thrice (not hat-trick). Raison Pereira and Nicky Alemao were the other scorers for the winners while Vinaj Sutarkar reduced the margin for the losers.
In the pre-quarters, Government Higher Secondary, Canacona blanked Shiroda Higher Secondary 2-0. Caitano Fernandes and Lanicio Fernandes scored.
