CURCHOREM: Guardian Angel High School, Curchorem, won the Quepem Taluka U-17 Chess Girls championship with 8 points after defeating Devappa Desai High School, Fatorpa, by a difference of 2 points while Holy Cross Institute, Quepem settled for third place with 5 points at Quepem taluka level tournament, organised by Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs at Sports complex, Borimoll-Quepem, on Wednesday.
In the boys U-17 category, Pope John XXIII High School, Quepem, won the championship with 8 points by defeating The New Education Institute Curchorem by 2 points and Sarvodaya Education Society High School Curchorem got the third place with 5 points
Meanwhile, The New Education Institute Curchorem won the Quepem Taluka U-14 chess Boys Championship with 8 points after defeating Sarvodaya Education Society High School Curchorem and Government High School Maina remained at third place with 6 points. In the girls’ category, Sarvodaya Education Society High School, Curchorem, won the chamionship with 7 points by defeating Pope John XXIII High School. Government High School Maina came third. The winning teams will now represent Quepem Taluka at District level.
