MAPUSA: Guardian Angel Sports Club were held by Sporting Clube de Goa to a 1-1 draw in the Goa Professional League match, organised by Goa Football Association, played at Duler Stadium, on Sunday.
The first 20 minutes of the match were restricted to midfield play as both the teams tried to keep possession.
Sporting were the first to create a potent attack when Marcus Mascarenhas sent perfect cross to unmarked Quan Gomes but the winger failed to control his shot from inside the box.
Two minutes later, Sporting keeper Melroy Fernandes was given marching orders following a direct red card for a reckless tackle on Perryson just outside the box, where defender Myron Fernandes sacrificed his place to new keeper Ozen Silva who excellently saved a free-kick from Nicholas Rodrigues.
Though Sporting were reduced to 10 men, their dominant play continued till the half-time whistle but
could not make most of it due to the poor finishing and superb goalkeeping effort from Angels custodian Ram Sroop.
In the 90th minute, keeper Ram was stunned by Victorino when he smartly headed in off Cajetan’s perfect free-kick from the right flank to make it 1-0 for the Flaming Orange.
When it was looking like the visitors, Angels striker Perryson, easily dribbled past keeper Ozen and finished the ball home to rescue a point from the match.
