POVASAO-CURTORIM: Guirdolim SC pipped Navelim Villagers Union in a hard fought 1-0 win to move into the final of the 12th Wilred Leisure Cup, at DSYA ground, Curtorim, on Monday.
Guirdolim’s Richard D’Sa was in the spotlight dazzling the crowd with his dribbling and long-ranger shot. Navelim’s Climax in the second minute should have netted but the shot was palmed away to safety by Guirdolim keeper. Thereafter, Richard D’Sa’s solo effort and long ranger failed to pop up into Navelim’s net.
Both teams played an attacking style of football, but it was Richard D’Sa of Guirdolim, who dribbled past the Navelim defenders and slotted the match-winner in the 69th minute.
Guirdolim Club will now meet the winners of Sao Jose de Areal and CDJ Ribandar in the final.
