VASCO: Holy Cross, Arambol, Pernem marched into the quarter- finals of the 44th Bandodkar Memorial football tournament defeating Betalbatim SC 3-0 in the match played at MPT ground, on Friday.
Holy Cross started in a whirlwind style and in the first minute Kritesh Gadekar shot inches over the bar. In the third minute after a solo effort, hardworking Hari Parab shot home past bewildered Betalbatim keeper Gladson Fernandes, 1-0.
Thereafter, Kritesh Gadekar missed again to increase the lead in the very next minute as his power-packed try hit the upright.
Holy cross led 1-0 at the lemon time.
Crossing ends, prolific Stepilton Fernnades doubled the lead after Kritesh Gadekar and Hari Parab had done the spade work up ground.
Betalbatim’s Jonathan Miranda, Bonny Fernandes, and Frazier Rogtao affected stray raids but they were thwarted by the tough defence of Arambol.
In the dying minutes substitute completed the tally 3-0.
Betalbatim Sporting Club’s Harminger Fernades was awarded the Man-of-the-Match.
