GUDI-PARODA: Holy Spirit Institute, Margao and Our Lady of Rosary High School, Fatorda booked their places in the semi-finals of the U-17 Ramnath Volvotkar memorial inter-school football tournament organised by Insight Society in association with DSYA, Damodar English HS and Damodar HSS, Gudi at DSYA ground, Gudi on Friday.
In the first match, Tahir Shaikh registered a hat-trick as Holy Spirit Institute trounced Assumpta Convent School, Sarzora 5-0.
Tahir Shaikh opened the scoring in the 13th minute and doubled the lead six minutes later.
Post resumption, Saideep Pomburphekar made it 3-0 off a pass received from Vellington Fernandes. Tahir completed his hat-trick scoring his third and team’s fourth goal in the 34th minute.
Saideep Pomburphekar added another to his tally scoring the fifth goal for Holy Spirit Institute in the dying minutes of the play. Tahir Shaikh was adjudged as player of the match.
In the second quarter-final, OL of Rosary HS, Fatorda defeated Ragina Martyrum High School, Assolna 3-0.
The Rosary school were leading by a goal scored in the 8th minute by Maxwell Furtado in the first half.
In the second half, OL of Rosary HS added two more goals through Maxwell Furtado and Jordon Borges. Maxwell Furtado was declared as player of the match.
