Host Saipem SC keep home Golden Jubilee Cup

CALANGUTE: Host Saipem Sports Club blanked Sakwadi Boys, Arpora 2-0 to clinch the Saipem Sports Club Golden Jubilee Cup, at Gustavo Monteiro ground, Candolim, recently.
The first half was dominated by Arpora boys as they displayed skilful game of football but failed to score goals. 
Saipem Sports Club went on attack at the first given opportunity and Paul Cardozo took a powerful shot at the goal which rebounded back in play and Jonathan Cardozo made no mistake as he tapped the ball to Bapu Pednekar, who scored a goal for Saipem SC, making it 1-0. 
Saipem SC with a goal took control and started to dominate the match. 
After the breather, Arpora boys desperate to find the equaliser went on full attack but couldn’t find their way through the rival defence. Saipem SC after finding the ball went on to make a counter attcak as Paul passed the ball to Bapu, who made the run to score a brilliant goal, diminishing hopes of the rival team to make a comeback. 
Soon afterwards, Arpora boys were awarded a penalty but shot wide. The winners took home Rs 25,000 plus trophy while the runners-up were awarded with Rs 15,000 and a trophy. 
The following individual prizes will be awarded: First goal and best goal of the tournament Bapu Pednekar, player of the tournament Paul Cardozo, best mid-fielder Jonathan Cardozo, best goalkeeper and best player of the tournament Ricardo Cardozo, best forward Sidhesh (Arpora), best defender Gauresh (Arpora) and youngest scorer Preeyesh (Camotim).
Chief guest Deputy Chief Minister Francis D’Sousa and guest of honour Calangute MLA Michael Lobo presented the awarded. 
Club Secretary Sushant Dhargalkar welcomed the gathering and President Michael Fernandes proposed the vote of thanks. The function was compered by Joy Fernandes.
