PANJIM: Goa-based rider Javed Shaikh lived up to his reputation as he was adjudged as the best rider in the SX2 category in the recently concluded Pune Invitational Supercross League 2017.
The three-day supercross extravaganza witnessed quality racing and thrilling performance by top notch international and national. The Pune Invitational Supercross League organised by VILO Events is the largest and the most talked about supercross event in India.
A total of 53 national riders and 11 international riders took part in the league. Participating teams for this year were, Stallion Riders, Bhalla Royale, INK Racing, P B Racing, Team Greeshm, Lilleria Motorsports; Pashankar Racing.
Debutants Stallion Riders bagged the title with a total tally of 438 points.
Representing Team Greeshm, Javed Shaikh caught many eyes and proved the second costliest biker after he was bagged for Rs. 53, 000 team owned by Ajit Gadhoke in the auction held in Pune.
Riding on his brand new Kawasaki SX250, Javed helped team Greeshm to secure the second position with 424 points. The Goa-based rider was the major contributor to the team’s tally as he contributed with 117 points. He emerged victorious in five out of the six motos (races) and ended in the second position in one moto (race). Javed was adjudged as the best rider in the category.
Javed was given a tough fight by Prithvi Singh of Stallion Riders as he secured second position with a total of 91 points. The 33-year- old, rider from Madgaon has been regular on the supercross circuit with participation in various national and international events. The 2012 national champion was in blazing form and remained literally unchallenged in the league in his respective category.
Javed currently is placed in the third position of MRF National Motocross in SX1 category after four rounds. The Madgaon rider has a very good chance as he can go for the full throttle to secure the top spot with last two rounds to be held in Indore and Pune respectively.
