PANJIM: Goa Forward Party leader and State RDA Minister Jayesh Salgaonkar was elected as Joint Secretary of Wrestling Federation of India.
Salgaonkar was elected unopposed for the post, paving way for Goa to excel in this sport along with the country. Wrestling is one of the maximum international medal winning Sports for India.
“The Federation has been working overtime to ensure that the India’s position in International Wrestling games strengthens further. It is an important responsibility on my shoulder to make sure that Federation’s flag is kept high flying,” said Salgaonkar while reacting after his election to the coveted post.
He said that with the help of the Federation and also Central government, Wrestling will be given importance in Goa. “Forget about Wrestling arenas, we don’t even have mats which are required to play this sport,” he said.
Salgaonkar said that he would strive to get all the required facilities in the State so that Goa is also known in this game.
