QUEPEM: Joe Cookies Veterans edged past Viva North Veterans 7-6 via the tie-breaker to move in to the second round of the 5th All-Goa Quepem Veterans Rolling Cup, on Wednesday.
Both the teams started the game on a cautious note and had equal number of goal scoring opportunities.
It was Francis Colaco for Joe Cookies who scored the first goal in the 14th minutes.
While Alex Alvares levelled the score for Viva North in the 20th minute.
Both the teams were levelled 1-1 at half time.
Post resumption, Viva North Veterans took the lead from a free-kick which was taken by Alex Alvares.
Soon Joe Cookies were awarded a spot-kick in the dying minutes of the match, Augustine stepped up and calmly slotted the ball home to take his team into the penalties.
In the ensuing tie-breaker Benny, Menino, Francis, Augustine and Joao scored for Joe cookies Veterans while Alex, Henry and Dyneshwar were on target for Viva North
