NAGOA: Dempo Sports Club outplayed FC Goa 3-0 in the Junior League at Nagoa ground, on Saturday.
It was always going to be a tough outing for FC Goa against Dempo SC. The first half turned out to be a huge challenge as was expected. Dempo SC’s physicality and attacking threat caused all sorts of problems, and within the first 20 minutes, the Team in Blue were ahead. It was Shreyash Naik who slotted the ball home after finding space inside the box, with Gaurs goalkeeper Micky Dias unable to do anything to stop the strike from going in.
The Gaur teens rallied soon after, looking a bit more compact as the half went on but were dealt a hammer blow before the break as Dempo SC doubled their lead. This time it was Arnold Oliveira who got his head to a cross first, and guided the ball into the back of the net to make it 2-0.
Dempo SC was able to go 3-0 up in the second half, thanks to a goal from substitute Tarak Khandolkar and had more chances to increase their lead further, as the game went on, but some smart saves by Micky Dias kept the lead to three.
