SARZORA: Juniors Mount Boys, Chandor defeated Holy Cross, Cuncolim 4-1 via the tie-breaker in the final to emerge champions in the 7-a-side football tournament organized by Parish Youth Sarzora, at Sarzora ground, recently.
The final was witnessed by the large crowd in spite of heavy down pour of rains. Holy Cross SC scored the first goal through Santan with his right footer shot which sailed smoothly into the nets of Junior Mount Boys within six minutes making it 1-0.
Mickey netted the second goal for Holy Cross SC in the 14th minute taking the score to 2-0.
Further, Junior Mount Boys sprang into action counter attacking with Nicholas, scoring 1-2 for Junior Mount boys in the 48th minute and within two minutes Louie stormed into action shooting a rocket bound shot and succeeded in scoring a goal levelling the score 2-2 for Junior Boys in the dying minutes of the second half.
At the end of regulation time, both the teams settled for a 2-2 draw.
In the resultant tie-breaker, Junior Mount Boys netted through the efforts of Nicholas, Louie and Luis while Holy Cross SC were on target through Santan giving Junior Mount Boys a comfortable win in the final.
Chief guest Fr Reinald Mascarenhas gave away the prizes to the winners and runners-up in the presence of referee, promoter of football Mauvin Tellis and youth secretary Celeste. Kelsner compered.
