Loyola HS, Manovikas EMS register wins

SOLVA RAIA: Loyola HS, Margao, and YFA played out an exhilarating 6-6 draw in the first match of the 3rd Round at the 1st CSC U-13 Futsal League.

Loyola lead3-0 at the breather with a hat-trick from star striker Reuben Barbosa. YFA started the second half well and pulled two goals back through Aaryav Da Costa and Soham Mane but a brace each from Reuben Barbosa and Andreas Furtado took the game in favour of Loyola HS, making it 6-2 with only six minutes left to play on the clock. 

YFA dug deep and pulled two back in two minutes through Aaryav and Mane again and suddenly the game was on a knife’s edge. Constant pressure from YFA strikers Trond Dias and Elrad Braganza finally paid dividends as two well drilled efforts were mistakenly diverted into their own net by the Loyola defenders and a big roar was heard as YFA drew level with arguably the last kick of the match and earning a vital point in the league.

In the second match, Manovikas EMS strolled to a 4-0 victory against Infant Jesus HS, Colva. Manovikas settled the game in the first 10 minutes of the game with goals from Eric Telles, Yohann Sousa, Dhruva Pai and Lochlan Sousa. Thereafter, Manovikas managed the game well and there were no goals in the second half.

Rosary HS, Navelim, made it three wins on the trot as they had to work hard to beat a much improved Fr Angel Multipurpose HS, Verna, 9-3. The final score proved flattering but it wasn’t all rosy for Rosary as they struggled to break a well organised defence of Fr Agnel in the first half where the scored read 3-2 in favour of Rosary HS through goals from Mustafa Bepari’s brace and Messi Rebello. While Fr Agnel scored through Elsan Dsouza and Shannoy Quadros. Fr Agnel started to make silly mistakes which cost them dearly in the second half. Messi Rebello added three more to his name and Mustafa Bepari completed his hat-trick. Aryan Tulsimani and an own goal were the other goal getters for the winners. Shannoy scored a late consolation for Fr. Agnel.

After a slow start, Vidya Vikas Academy, Margao, ran riot against St Jude HS, Betalbatim, 11-1. The only girl playing in the League Lillian Rodrigues grabbed a hat-trick while Saiesh Kortharkar scored four times, Vedant Verlekar scored a brace and Warren Rodrigues scored one for the winners. Saiesh Kortharkar and Dwayne De Cruz were the other outstanding players for Vidya Vikas.
