Mad Max move into finals

MARGAO, JULY 1
Mad Max, Taleigao  trounced  Sao Jose de Areal  5-1 to secure a berth  in the finals of Gumboots football tournament organised by Gumboots Boys of Orlim at church ground, Orlim on Thursday. They led 2-0 at half time.
Mad Max who enjoyed the lion share of exchanges went into the lead when Valencio Piexoto’s rasping shot gave no chance to the rival goalkeeper.
The early goal galvanized  Mad Max who repeatedly raided the Sao Jose de Areal citadel. Their persistent forays paid dividends when Cedric Peixoto  bulged the net from hand-shaking distance.
Despite the double blows,  Sao  Jose de Areal failed to combine as a cohesive unit  as their rearguard looked disjointed and their forwards did not show urgency in their approach work.
Mad Max  continued in the same vein after change of ends and attacked the rivals from both flanks. Cesar further consolidated the lead soon after resumption when be placed the ball to the far corner of the net after receiving a through pass from Cedric Peixoto.
After taking a 3-0 cushion, Mad Max slackened their pace but  their forwards did not lost the appetite for goals as Valencio’s shot deflected from a rival defender and caught the goalkeeper on the wrong foot.
Xavier put the issue beyond doubt when he punished the rival goalkeeper with a snap shot.
Sao Jose de Areal managed to reduce the margin at the fag end when Flyod blasted home from close range.
