PANJIM: Margao Cricket Club defeated Iqbal XI by 2 wickets to clinch the 32nd Nanda Lolienkar cricket trophy at the Nirakar Maidan Dapot, Mashem on Sunday.
MCC won the toss and elected to bowl. Iqbal put up 304 for 9 in the allotted 35 overs. Bharat Arkas 146 top scored for Iqbal. Darshan Misal 3 wkts, Sher Bahadur Yadav 3 wkts and Amogh Desai 2 wkts bowled well for MCC.
MCC achieved the target in 33.4 overs by scoring 305 for the loss of 8 wickets. Dheeraj Narvekar 83, Amogh Desai 77, Darshan Misal 37 and Badi Uzma 33 batted well for MCC while Tushar Sawant 1 wkt and Zeeshan Ali 1 wkt bowled well for Iqbal.
The following individual prizes were awarded: Man of the tournament Amogh Desai; Man of the match Dheeraj Narvekar; Best batsman Bharat Arkas; Best bowler Tushar Sawant.
For prize distribution function Sports Minister Ramesh Tavaskar, Treasurer GCA Vilas Desai, Sarpanch Lolien Polem Bhushan Prabhugaonkar, Chairman Nirakar Education Secretary Prashant Naik, were present.
