Margao Sports Club scripted a 2-0 win over Quitula Sports Club, Aldona in the inaugural match of 20th edition of late V.M. Salgaoncar Trophy 2009 organised by Saligao Sporting Club at Sporting grounds, Saligao ON Saturday. They led 1-0 at the break. Both teams played well in the first half but it was Margao who took the lead in the 20th minute through Melwyn.
Down by a goal, Quitula boys dictated terms to Margao and could have scored the equaliser but Sonu shot wide with an open goal in front of him.
Changing over, Margao added another goal to their kitty through Cliff in the 15th minute to seal the fate of Quitula Earlier, the tournament was kicked-off by former international Domnic Soares in presence of Tony Remedios..
