Margao SC qualify with unbeaten record

With an unbeaten record, Margao SC qualified for next season’s GFA First Division.
The Margao Club was established in 1991, after the locals felt there was a need for the economical capital of Goa to have an official representation.
Luis Alex Cardoso, former minister, was the first president and still continues to preside over the reins of club with his house doubling as the club’s headquarters.
The enthusiastic Margao boys train at the multipurpose school ground at Borda under the watchful eyes of coach Joaquim Crasto and manager Milagres Noronha.
The club runs summer football coaching camps for youngsters who are trained by former international Rocky Barretto. The inter-village team is made up of players from Margao, but the League team has players from surrounding villages.
The club does not rely on just one sponsor to fund the team. They have generous followers who patronise the club and also are very vocal at away matches. Secretary Aleixo Noronha and Treasurer Tito Cardozo are instrumental in bringing in the much needed finances.
Now that the club has made it big, plans are afoot to have a club house at Borda.
