RAIA: Marina English HS, Verna defeated Mount Mary HS,Chinchinim,1-0 to book their place in the semi-finals of the Fr Peter SVD Memorial Football tournament, played at the SVD Ashram Damon, Raia ground, on Monday.
Ashvek Jadhav scored the only goal of the game in the 21st minute.
Mount Mary’s had their share of chances where Shario Gomes’ solo effort missed the target. Shario put in a stellar performance and had two good chances with one hitting the crossbar while the other went inches wide.
Even though Mount Mary HS ended up on the losing side, Shario was awarded the Man-of-the-Match.
In the second quarter-final, Our Lady of Poor High School, Tilamol secured a comfortable win over St Thomas High School, Cansaulim with a 3-0 victory.
The goal scorers for Our Lady of Poor were Joyran Fernandes, Ivo Costa and Jofan Faria. St Thomas High School, had their best chances shared between Selvic Gomes and Slavin D’Mello as they offered an attacking outlook for their team.
