CANACONA, JAN 6
Mastimoll Boys lifted the Victor D’Souza Memorial Trophy in the 7-a-side football tournament organized by Maxem Boys. They beat SFC Bhatpal 2-0 in the finals and also netted Rs 8000.
SFX Bhatpal had to be content with a cash prize of Rs. 5000 and a trophy.
Man-of-the-match Gilbern Dias of Mastimoll. Selvwyn D’Souza of Maxem Boys won the man-of-the tournament prize.
In all, 18 teams from Canacona participated in the mini-lightning tournament.
The tournament was sponsored by Cajjie D’Souza and Cruz D’Silva.
Isidore Fernandes was the chief guest and gave away the prizes.
