PANJIM: Harsh Patre’s 5-goal heroics helped Mayem centre thrash Savoi Verem in the U-13 boys match in the Inter Centre Vodafone-Goa Football Development Council Rising Star Football Festival at Mayem ground, recently.
Mayem midfielder Patre, who is the student of Vijayanand High School, Mayem, was the hero of the match.
In first half, he scored a hat-trick. Savoi Verem were unable to recover from early attacks and failed to consolidate in the game.
Crossing over, Mayem maintained their supremacy and scored two more goals through Patre again.
In the U-10 boys match, Mayem edged past Savoi Verem 2-1. Both the teams showed good team work and attack. But Mayem proved bit stronger with player of the match Arun Chauhan scoring a brace. Pushkar Kamat was the lone scorer for Savoi Verem.
A fine hat-trick by Kaushik Sakhalkar helped Socorro blank Corlim 4-1 at Vadem-Socorro ground. This is the first victory for Socorro.
Kaushik gave his team lead in the first half.
After the change of ends, Corlim were quick and Ajay Bhomkar equalised. Later, some superb performance by Socorro team helped hosts to pump in three more goals. Kaushik netted two more goals while Sidhant Pednekar reduced the margin for Socorro.
Kaushik, who studies in Holy Cross High School, Bastora, was named player-of-the-match.
