PANJIM: Goa’s Santosh Trophy team skipper, Micky Fernandes is likely to be dropped from the team which will be taking part in the final leg of the prestigious tournament, in Punjab, starting in the first week of March.
Micky was involved in a brawl with teammate Mario Mascarenhas in the team’s hotel room, on February 9, where he allegedly assaulted the defender after Goa lost their bronze medal match to Maharashtra 3-1, at the recently concluded 35th National Games, held in Kerala.
The Goa Football Association’s (GFA) Emergency Committee Members met on Thursday to review the situation and it was proposed to drop the Churchill Bros SC medio for misconduct, based on the managers report.
However, the decision will also be reviewed by the Executive Members and the Disciplinary Committee of the Goa Football Association.
