PANJIM: Milagres Sports Club, Mapusa edged out Pilerne Sports Club 1-0 to move into the quarter-finals of Mc Dowell’s No.1 Yaari Premier Cup, organized by Vagator Parish Youth, at Ozran ground, Vagator, Monday.
Shailesh Misquin scored the all-important goal.
In the very 6th minute Krishna Chouge sent a through pass to Swapnesh Gaokar, but the latter ballooned the ball over the crosspiece.
Another chance was squandered by Milagres as Shailesh Misquin got hold to a pass from Noel Viegas, but he failed to give the final touches.
On crossing over Pilerne side came with renewed ideas but Royston Pereira blistering 20-yard shot was tipped over the post by Milagres keeper, while Bapu Pednekar’s 18-yard shot rebounded off the Milagres post which was timely cleared by Sebastian D’Costa to safety.
However it was Milagres who finally broke the deadlock as Shailesh Misquin getting hold to a cross from Casmiro D’Souza scored with a neat placement, 1-0.
Milagres should have doubled their lead, but Pilerne keeper came with brilliant save to deny Shailesh Misquin from scoring with a 40-yard strike.
