Mishal, Dhamaskar, Chede to be feted

Cricketer Subham Naik Trust will felicitate a promising Goan cricket player and two cricket coaches for their outstanding contributions for Goan cricket at a function to be held on June 9 at Ravindra Bhavan, Margao at 5 p.m.
Subash Shirodkar, chairman of the trust, disclosed that under-17 player Darshan Mishal will be felicitated for being the best player in the State age-group and being the only Goan to be selected twice for National Cricket Academy.
Coach Vinod Dhamaskar is a Level 3 cricket coach who was the wicket-keeper of Goa’s first Ranji cricket team while coach Chandrakant Chede is considered `coach of the coaches’, with the Goan players who played in IPL being his students at one stage.
The function will be held on late Shubam Naik’s 16th birthday with Chief Minister, Digambar Kamat being the chief guest. Sports Minister, Babu Azgaonkar will preside and former captain of India cricket team, Ajit Wadekar and Sports Secretary, Dr Modassir will be the guests of honour.
