Mormugao hit five past Mandopa

PANJIM: Mormugao Sports Club thrashed Mandopa Sports Club 5-1 in the second division league organized by Goa Football Association played at Artificial Turf Fatorda on Friday. 
The Port town side took just 10 minutes to open the scoring as Dickson Alves gave them the lead through a neat finish into the post after easing past the defence. 
Post the half hour mark, Sameen Borkar made it 2-0 in favor of the Mormagao side as they went into the break with a comfortable 2-0 lead. 
On changing sides, Dickson Alves completed his brace in the 69th minute while the Mandopa side managed to pull one goal down courtesy to Prestley Gomes in the 75th minute to make it 3-1. 
But nothing seemed to have been stopping Dickson Alves as he netted two more goals in the 85th and 90+2 minute. 
In another game held at Ambelim ground, Varca Sports Club beat Cortalim VSSWA 3-1. 
Reeve D’Costa gave the Varca side a lead in the 21st minute but the Cortalim side made it all square just before half time through Mauren Cruz. 
The second half witnessed the Varca side march forward in full attack as Bhapan Chanyal gave the side a 2-1 lead while later Joston Fernandes increased the lead to 3-1 in the 86th minute.
