PANJIM: After winning the hearts with his performance on the field, FC Goa skipper Mandar Rao Dessai took a step ahead to create more football craze and awareness among the budding talent as the winger/left-back launched his own brand –MRD7 Campus to help future players.
The MRD7 Campus along with events and media specialist Clinton D’Souza will be organising football coaching sessions from May 27 to June 1 for the children between the age group of 8 to 12 years.
The enrolled footballers will be trained and coached by Indian Super League players Mandar and Pratesh Shirodkar, certified coaches Malvita Mascarenhas and Augustino Dias.
“The focus of the camp is to promote football in a right way. The camp will be held at O’Jogo Futsal ground, Porvorim. The camp will held for only 30 students (20 boys and 10 girls),” said the release.
“It’s good to have grassroots training from the age of 8-12 years because this is the right age for players to get adapted to basic skills and this will inturn develop their love towards the sport. Kids have big dreams and some might want to be footballers and we are here just to help them move a little closer towards it,” said Mandar Rao Desai.
“This  initiative has been conceptualised keeping in mind the love for the sport among the younger generation. This will surely help them to get best experience considering the fact they would be trained, mentored and guided by some experienced footballers and coaches. The best thing about this camp is that it’s totally free of cost,” said Clinton D’Souza.
The selections for the same will be held on May 26 at 3.45 p.m. at the Strike Arena, Guirim. For further details Clinton D’Souza may be contacted at clintonds93@gmail.com
