AMBULOR-VERNA: Mugrupoi Boys defeated Bamborda Boys by a solitary goal to win the 4th Verna inter-ward football tournament organised by United Boys of Ambulor, at Verna Panchayat ground, recently.
The all-important goal was scored by Frazer Rodrigues who won a through pass and score in the 12th minute.
Later, Mugrupoi Boys’ Savio Souza crossed the ball but a Bamborda defender cleared the ball to safety.
In the second half, Bamborda almost scored through Daniel Da Costa but he missed the target by a whisker.
Both teams had equal ball possession but Mugrupoi Boys goal proved to be ultimately the difference.
Mugrupoi Boys were awarded Rs 10,000 while Bamborda Boys received Rs 7,000.
Tony Da Costa was the chief guest and gave away the prizes in the presence of panch members of Verna.
