VASCO: Murgao High School defeated Vidya Mandir High School by 6 wickets in the first semi-finals of the 35th President Shield cricket tournament, organised by St Josephs Institute, Vasco, on Thursday.
Electing to bat first, Vidya Mandir scored 72/9 in the allotted 20 overs. Harish Davanve (12) and Jay Patel (10) were top run scorers for the Chicalim school.
Prince Yadav (3) and Pavan Pal (2) were pick of Murgao bowlers.
In reply Murgaon HS chased down the target in 16th over losing just 4 wickets.
Prince Yadav scored 27 and Pavan Pal scored 23 not out.
In the second semi-finals match, Mother of Mercy English HS defeated Vademnagar English HS by 10 wickets.
Electing to bat first, Vademnagar English HS were bundled out for 57 in 20 overs. Deepangshu Dev took 3 wickets while Tanvesh Kalangutkar took 2 for Mother of Mercy. In reply Mother of Mercy chased down the target in 7th over without losing any wicket. Murgao HS will now lock horns with MoM HS in semis on Feb 10.
