MAPUSA: Murodvaddo Candolim registered a comfortable 2-0 win over Annavaddo to emerge champions of the 2nd Calangute Constituency Soccer, played at Dr. Gustavo ground, Candolim, here on Sunday.
In the very 2nd minute of play, Murod forged ahead as Nehal Naik got hold of a cross from Saish Bagkar who smashed the ball into the rival goal to take the lead.
Annavaddo tried their best to level terms but failed to get past the stubborn Murod defense.
On crossing over in the 53rd minute, Stephen Dias doubled the lead as he dribbled past a host of rival defenders and scored from top of the penalty box.
The winners were awarded Rs. 60,000 plus trophy, while the runners-up received Rs.40,000 plus trophy.
Micheal Lobo, Deputy Speaker of Goa was the chief guest and gave away the prizes to the winners and runners-up in the presence of Ophelia Sequeira-Deputy Sarpanch of Candolim, Fermino Fernandes, Ramkrishna Kerkar and match officials.
