Navelim lift Assolna Seamen Cup

PANJIM, JAN 26
Navelim Sporting Club defeated Sao Jose De Areal Sports Club 3-1 in Assolna Seamen Cup soccer at GPS ground, Assolna on Wednesday.
Sao Jose de Areal shot into the lead in the first minute. Navelim equalised in the 30th minute.
The winners were awarded Rs 33,333 and the runners-up had to be content with Rs 22,222.
Individual prizes were awarded: Best Player – Joseph Dias (Navelim). Best goalkeeper – Aron Travasso (Sao Joao). Best defender – Paulo Dias (Sao Joao). First scorer – Raymond Fernandes (Sao Joao). Best striker – Bittu Singh (Navelim). Oldest player – Inacio Viegas (Sao Joao). Highest scorer of the tournament – Ashlon (Sao Joao). Best disciplined team – Betalbatim SC.
Youth Welfare and Sports Club Passagem, Assolna won the girls exhibition match.
One-man band James entertained the spectators.
