CHANDOR: Navelim Sporting Club edged past host Chandor Club 2-1 to move into the quarter-finals of the 45th Seamen rolling trophy football tournament organised by Chandor Club, at Chandor ground, on Saturday.
Chandor Club started on a promising note by attacking right from kick-off but poor finishing resulted in missing three sitters.
Chandor eventually scored in the 23rd minute through Flazer Gomes but the joy was short-lived as Jaison Martins equalised for Navelim in the very next minute.
Navelim doubled the lead in the 26th minute from a through pass by veteran Climax Lawrence. In the second half Chandor Club attacked relentlessly but Navelim defended splendidly.
Navelim will face wait the winner of Ambelim and CRC Chinchinim match in the quarter-finals.
