RAIA: Hosts Navelim Sporting Club entered the semi-finals of 44th Gold Silver Rolling Trophy football tournament defeating Betalbatim Sporting Club 3-1 in the last quarter-final match played at Rosary Church ground, Navelim, on Thursday. Navelim SC started the match on a fast track and stuck early in the 5th minute through Noah Luis, while Dickson Ragtao’s powerful shot kissed the crossbar and went out of play.
Navelim SC further increase the tally through Sherlock Dias with a neat placement in the 25th minute of play and were leading 2-0 at the breather.
As the second session began, Betalbatim SC tried to come back. In the bargain, Klusner Pereira’s left footer from a 30-yard was punch away for a corner in the 40th minute. Betalbatim SC’s Aniston Fernandes’ solo effort couldn’t hit the net in the 50th minute.
Navelim SC made the issue safe by scoring through Sherlock again in the 58th minute, to complete his brace. In the dying minutes of the game, Betalbatim SC pulled one goal back through Aniston Fernandes.
