BETALBATIM: Navelim SC got the better of Goa Velha SC 6-5 via the tie-breaker to move into the semi-finals of the Martin’s Cup, organised by Betalbatim SC, at Betalbatim Sports Complex, on Saturday.
Both the teams played attacking football but failed to convert any goals in both either of the sessions.
Navelim SC had their first shy at the goal however Alvito Colaco failed to connect to a ball sent in by Rohan Pereira in the 15th minute.
Later in the 25th minute Yogesh Thapa’s long ranger for Goa Velha kissed the Navelim SC goalpost and went out of play.
Navelim SC’s Aulon Gomes’ power drive shot was saved by Goa Velha SC goalkeeper in the 39th minute.
Joseph dibbled past a couple of defenders and hit towards the goal in the 43rd minute however missed the nets of Navelim SC.
Aulon Gomes missed yet another sitter for Navelim in the 48th minute.
At full-time the scoreboard read 0-0.
In the resultant tie-breaker Navelim SC proved to be better shooters.
