MARGAO: Navelim Sporting Club thumped Ambelim Sports Club 3-1 to move into the next round of the Fr Gervasio memorial football tournament, organized by Guardian Angel Sports Club, at Curchorem ground, on Friday. In the first half, Navelim SC led 2-0.
Navelim SC dominated the proceeding and scored two quick goals. In the 20th minute, Sandy Colaco put them ahead after receiving a pass from Aldrich Coelho.
Three minutes later, Aldrich fired a long ranger as the rival custodian was caught napping. Bitu Singh came up with the assist.
Ambelim SC tried to crawl back into the match but Samson Simoes saw his grounder being blocked by a rival defender.
Crossing over, Navelim SC made it 3-0 as Bitu connected a cross by Aldrich in the 40th minute.
However, in the dying minutes, Ambelim SC pulled a goal back through Samson Simoes’ grounder.
