Navelim Villagers comeback, oust Davorlim SC

CURTORIM: Navelim Villagers Union defeated Davorlim Sporting Club, 5-2 to storm into the semi-finals of All-Goa Curtorim Gymkhana Cup inter-village football tournament, at St Alex Church ground, Curtorim, on Thursday.

CURTORIM: Navelim Villagers Union defeated Davorlim Sporting Club, 5-2 to storm into the semi-finals of All-Goa Curtorim Gymkhana Cup inter-village football tournament, at St Alex Church ground, Curtorim, on Thursday.
 Davorlim SC opened their account in the very first minute through Rayan Furtado after Mack Borges passed the ball to him. 
Davorlim SC were in form as they found glitches in Navelim defence and used it to double their lead as Joel Colaco found Mack Borges’ who was prowling around in the Navelim Villagers defence who made an impactful strike as the ball crashed into the rival nets.
Thereafter Navelim started mounting pressure and succeed in the 20th minute, as they scored their first goal.
Sandy Colaco soon leveled the score in the 35th minute of a corner kick taken by Aulon Gomes and Rovan Pereira made no mistake heading the ball into the net.
The 47th minute saw by Rovan Pereira score the goal taking the lead the team desired.
Sandy Colaco scored his brace and doubled the lead for his team in the 62nd minute of  a  fine assist from Prestly Gomes.
 Joseph Gomes in the 75th minute rolled the ball to Alvito Colaco who made no mistake as he fired it straight past the keeper to put the final nail in the coffin taking the tally to 5-2.
Navelim Villagers will meet Don Bosco Oratory Fatorda in the semi-finals to be held on August 7.
