PANJIM: Navelim Villagers Union blanked St Anthony Sports Club, Assolda 2-0 in a tightly contested final of Zenia and Ziya inter-village football tournament, organized by Rossman Cruz Sports Club, Nagoa, at Manora ground, Raia, recently.
Navelim had a slight edge over their opponents as Alistor Gomes and Delrick Gomes scored the all-important goals for the winners. Navelim Villagers pocketed Rs 40,000 while Assolda had to be content with Rs 30,000.
Curtorim MLA Reginaldo Lourenco was the chief guest and gave away the prizes.
Following individual prizes were awarded to First scorer of the final Alistor Gomes; Best goalkeeper of the finals Johnson Fernandes (Assolda); Man-of-the-final Jaison Pereira (Navelim) and Best midfielder Succoro Fernandes (Assolda).
