GOA VELHA: Navelim Villagers Union edged past St. Anthony SC Marna 6-5 via tie-breaker in the 12th London Trophy inter-village football tournament organized by Goa Velha Sports Club, played at Goa Velha ground, on Monday.
The St Anthony side controlled the game and began to move forward on an attacking note.
It was the Navelim side that surged ahead in the 17th minute as Arlon Gomes ran past through the St Anthony defence and swiftly netted the ball into the post giving their side an early lead.
Dalesh Pedukar scored past the Navelim keeper to make it 1-1.
The final minutes failed to see any positive play as both teams headed into the tie-breaker where Navelim side were the better team from the spot winning 6-5.
Aulon Gomes, Suraj Naik, Jaison Martin’s, Moebin Gomes and Joevin Costa scored for the Navelim team while Francis Fernandes, Claudio Rodrigues, Videsh Sawant and Sandeam Pednekar converted for the Marna team.
