NAVELIM: North Goa Veterans edged past South Goa Veterans 1-0 in the 50+ Veterans football exhibition match organised by  Veterans Football Club and played at Rosary ground, Navelim, on Saturday.
This match saw yesteryears footballers making football waves during the evening with Brahmanand Sancoalkar, Pascoal Pereira and others. 
South Goa Veterans had the first shy at the goal as Lector Mascarenhas and Bento Andrew combined well to take the ball ahead in the rival citadel however their move was foiled by Narendra Gaad of North in the 3rd minute.
All it took was a single defense lapse for the North Goa Veterans to score the goal and Ambrose Fernandes was up to the task to convert the early chance the away side goat in the 9th minute off Camilo Gonsalves connect. 
Benjamin Silva for South Goa Veterans missed two sitters in the 12th and 14th minutes respectively while Avertano Furtado of South Goa Veterans did a commendable job under the bar with brilliant saves in the 16th and 20th minutes respectively.
Earlier, Fortunate Franco former Olympian inaugurated the newly built Shed at Rosary ground, Navelim.
