PANJIM: Nuvem Veterans came from behind to outplay strong contenders Fatorda Veterans 6-5 via tie-breaker in the final to clinch their maiden Ambelim Veterans Cup 2014 organised by Ambelim Sports Club, at SAG sports complex, at Assolna.
Fatorda Veterans moved ahead in the 12th minute when Tony Crasto completed the penalty in the first half.
Crossing over, Nuvem Veterans did not lose heart and continued with same good attacking moves in one of those Marcus Carvalho neatly chested the ball from Francis on the left flank and neatly placed the ball in the net beating Chandrakhant Naik under the Fatorda bar to level the score 1-1.
At the end of regulation time, the teams were held to a 1-1 draw.
In the resultant tie-breaker, Marcus Carvalho, William Caldeiro, Nelson Lendes, Lorence Gomes and Patrick Carvalho were on target for Nuvem Veterans while for Fatorda Veterans Tony Crasto, Joaquim Fernandes, Jhony Crasto and Menino Fernandes score.
Nuvem Veterans were awarded a trophy and a cash price of Rs 20,000 while Fatorda Veterans had to settle for a trophy and cash price of Rs 15000.
Chief guest Minister for Labour and Fisheries Avertano Furtado gave the winners prize while MLA Ambelim Constituency Benjamin Silva gave the runners-up prize.
