RAIA: Our Lady of Gloria Sports Club, Ilha De Rachol defeated Verna SC, 2-0 to move into the final of the BSCA inter-village football tournament, organised by BSCA, in association with Snow’s Football Academy and Sports Authority of Goa, at the Raia Panchayat ground, on Monday.
Gloria went on attacking mode in the first half with Don Fernandes who shot from close range however his shot hit the cross bar of Verna side and went out of play in the 8th minute.
Later Verna SC made yet another attempt at the goal however Noel Costa’s header was a weak one and was easily saved by Gloria SC goalkeeper in the 12th minute.
Hilton Fernandes of Verna made inroads in the 16th minute as he stepped inside the rival box but was brilliantly tackled by the rival defender to foil his move.
Don Fernandes, the left winger of Gloria SC dribbled both the defenders of Verna SC and fired a powerful shot into the nets of Verna SC in the 20th minute to open the scoring for Gloria SC.
Gloria SC’s, Oilex Oliveira shot hit the crossbar of Verna SC and went out of play in the 52nd minute.
Verna should have been levelled terms when Noel Costa beautiful cross was sent to Hilton Fernandes however Hilton’s weak header was saved by the Gloria SC goalkeeper in the 56th minute.
Gloria SC went on to double their lead through Oilex Oliveira solo effort after he dribbled past a couple of Verna SC defenders and fired a powerful grounder home in the 66th minute.
Our Lady of Gloria SC will meet Don Bosco Oratory Fatorda in the final on January 15.
