GUDI-PARODA: Our Lady of Succour High School, Nagoa–Verna got the better of Regina Martyrum HS 4-2 (1-1) via the tie-breaker to emerge champions of the 2nd All Goa inter-school U-17 boys football tournament in memory of late Ramnath D. Volvotkar, organised by Insight the Society for Sports, Culture, Youth Affairs & Charity of Gudi–Paroda at Gudi ground, recently.
Both the teams were tied at 1-1 at end of regulation time. Yash Naik gave OL of Succour High School, Nagoa the lead in the 44th minute after a neat placement which gave no chance for the rival keeper.
Regina Martyrum HS applied pressure and in the dying minute of the match earned a penalty which was converted by Crossley Luis.
In the ensuing tie-breaker, Sitroy Carvalho, Yash Naik and Allan Rodrigues scored for OL of Succour HS while only Joean Simoes was on target for Regina Martyrum HS.
The winners and runners-up were awarded Rs. 15,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively. Sudesh Bhise, Santosh Phaldesai, Principal of Damodar HSS Arvind Kulkarni and ‘Insight’ member Namita Volvotkar were present for the prize distribution ceremony.
