FATORDA: Our Lady of Rosary High School, Fatorda defeated Loyola High School, Margao 5-2 via the tie-breaker to claim the Salcete taluka U-14 boys Subroto Mukherjee, title, in the tournament organised by DSYA, at PJN Stadium, on Friday.
Loyola started the match on an attacking note and had the first shot at the goal as their striker Ashnoy Gomes dribbled past the defenders and shot towards the goal but his strike hit the side netting.
At the other end, OL Rosary HS’ striker Micheal Dias shot brilliantly but his attempt at the goal was cleverly saved by the rival keeper Rehan Gomes in the 6th minute.
It was the Loyola school that found the breakthrough in the 24th minute through Flyn Crasto whose diagonal shot crashed into Rosary HS’s nets, however the joy was short lived as Yash Pawar equalised for Rosary HS in the 28th minute with a powerpacked shot.
OL Rosary HS went on an attacking rampage and found the lead through Micheal Dias’ placement shot making it 2-1.
It was Shawn Carvalho who levelled terms for Loyola with a few seconds remaining for the final whistle.
In the resultant tie-breaker OL Rosary HS netted through Yash Pawar, Prasad Shinde and Guarav Bhandari while no one managed to convert the spot kicks for the Loyola school.
APEO Salcete Mahesh Revonkar, TSO Salcete taluka Manthan Adpaikar, and other dignitaries were present for the final.
