CANDOLIM: Om Shiv Shamboo, Merces defeated Saipem Sports Club, Candolim 2-0 in the All-Goa Volleyball tournament organised by Saipem Sports Clube as a part of their clubs 50th anniversary celebration, in Candolim, recently.
In the semi-finals Om Shiv Shamboo, Merces defeated Goa Police in a 3-set thriller while Saipem Sports Club, Candolim defeated Dhargal United by 2-0.
In the finals, Om Shiv Shamboo dominated during the first set however Saipem Sports Club gave the Merces side a tough fight. Pappu dominated attack for Om Shiv Shamboo and gave his team the lead and a well deserved win.
The winners of the tournament were awarded Rs. 20,000 and trophy while the runners-up received Rs. 15, 000.
Pappu of Om Shiv Shamboo, Merces won the best player of the tournament while Arvind bagged the best smasher award, Milind Bodke was adjudged as the best lifter and best defender was awarded to Bharat.
