MAPUSA: Oxford Marine defeated Vasco Sports Club by three wickets to clinch the 4th T-20 season ball cricket tournament organized by Badem Sports Club at Porvorim ground, recently.
Batting first, Vasco set up a total of 110 at the loss of seven wickets with contributions of 19 runs each from Sarfraj Nawaz and Abdul Salam. Vinod Vilson (18) and Thango Naik (11) also made some vital runs. For Oxford Marine, Abhijeet Talekar was outstanding with the ball, clinching four wickets while Rajesh Vaingankar (2) and Raju Dabholkar claimed a wicket.
In reply, Oxford Marine chased the target with three wickets in hand. Rajesh Vaingankar top scored with a blistering 30, Utkarsh Pokle (20), Raju Dabholkar (22) and Siddesh Arora 13 runs.
The winners were awarded Rs 44,444 alongwith the winner’s trophy while Vasco had to be content with Rs 22,222 and the runners-up trophy.
Individual prizes were awarded to Best Bowler Abhijeet Talekar, Man-of-the-series Rajesh Vaingankar, Best Batsman Neeraj Lotlikar and Best Bowler Durgesh Naik.
Chief guest, MLA Naresh Sawal and guest of honour, MLA Rohan Khaunte distributed the prizes in the presence of Gupesh Naik, ZP Member; Dilip Borkar, owner of Deesha Creations, Suraj Borkar and Brahmanand Naik, president of Badem SC.
