PANJIM: Panjim Footballers scored a huge 5-2 win over Guardian Angel Sports Club Curchorem to storm into semifinals of the 17th Goa Police Cup football tournament played at Sesa Football Academy ground, at Sirsaim, on Monday.
Irfan Yadwad was the highlight of the day as the youngster continued his goal scoring form smashing in four goals against the Curchorem side.
Irfan opened the scoring for Panjim Footballers in the 12th minute. The lead was cancelled by Johnson Horta in the 21st minute for Curchorem team.
Panjim Footballers regained their lead just before the breather through Irfan Yadwad.
In the second session, Panjim Footballers added three more goals to their tally. Irfan added two more goals to his name while Joyson Gaunkar was the fifth goal scorer for the winners. Nicholas Rodrigues reduced the margin for Guardinal Angel SC in the first minute of the injury time.
Panjim’s Irfan Yadwad was named the player of the match and PSI Jitendra Sinari presented the trophy to the youngster.
