QUEPEM: Panjim Veterans defeated Raia-Rachol Veterans 3-2 via the tie-breaker to move into the next round of the All-Goa Assolda Veterans football tournament, at Quepem sports complex, on Friday.
Panjim Veterans should have scored early in the very second minute but Ramesh Palkar’s shot hit the cross piece.
Crossing over, Shekar Shirodkar set up Ramesh in the 38th minute but the latter’s grounder was saved by Roger Oliveira, goalkeeper of Raia Rachol Veterans.
In the tie-breaker, Panjim Veterans netted through Daniel Noronha, Alex Alvares and Govind Balekar while Raia Rachol converted through Anthony Tavares and Eklis Vaz.
