CALANGUTE: Pilerne Sports Club prevailed over Sanquelim Sports Club 7-6 via the tie-breaker in 4th Rusi Daver memorial inter-village football tournament organized by Adarsh Yuvak Sangh at Saligao ground, Friday. The teams were locked 1-1 at normal time.
The teams began aggressively but it was Sanquelim who took the lead in the fifth minute through Vikrant Sawant.
Stung by the setback, Pilerne regrouped and equalized in the 10th minute through Pio D’ Souza.
After resumption, the teams went all out but could not score the match-winner.
In the penalty shoot-out, Pilerne kept their nerves as Viraj Malik, Caetano Paes, Yeshwant Nagvekar, Royston Pereira, Ansor D’ Souza and Sairaj Hadfadkar scored while Nitesh Naik, Pravin Kanekar, Sanjay Maulingkar, Vinay Bosco and Vaibhav Kanekar scored for Sanquelim.
