VASCO: Goan players Ethan Vaz and Shriya Patil did well to ensure a podium finish at the 33rd National U-9 Chess Championship which was held at Gujarat, recenly.
Ethan scored 8 points out of 11 rounds to win the 10th pace. Among others, he defeated Shreeyash Kejriwal (1275) of West Bengal and Sanyam Srivastava (1230) of UP and drew with Jaivardhan Raj (1287) of Maharastra.
Shriya scored 7.5 points out of 11 rounds to win the 19th place Among others, she defeated Trisha Jagtap of Maharastra and Pritisha Mitra of Orissa.
Other Goan players also put up a spirited performance. They are Vedant Angle (7 points), Jennica Sequeira (6.5 points), Vaishnavi Parab (6.5 points) Saeeja Dessai (6 points), Atharv Sawal and Sarvang Pagi with 5.5 points each.
