CURCHOREM: Pope John XXIII High School, Quepem defeated Guardian Angel Higher Secondary School, Curchorem 2-0 via tie-breaker in the Quepem Taluka girls U-17 Subroto Mukerjee Football tournament organized by Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, at Panchayat ground, Xeldem-Quepem, on Friday.
There was no score during regular time.
Both the teams put up a good display and showed more urgency in their approach but could not succeed in the efforts.
In the ensuing tie-breaker Pope John’s shooters Flani Costa and Sneha D’Costa converted for their team as they proved to better shooters than Guardian Angel shooters.
Earlier in the semi-final Pope John defeated Immaculate Conception HS, Avadem-Paroda 6-0 while Guardian Angel HSS defeated Guardian Angel HS 3-0, to play in the final of the tournament.
