QUEPEM: Pope John XXIII High School Quepem emerged winners of the Quepem taluka U-17 Girls Subroto Football, organised by Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs, Borimol, Quepem.
Pope John XXIII HS defeated Immaculate Conceptions HS Avedem 2-0 in the final. Kumari and Joizima Fernandes scored a goal in each half. Pope John dominated the match from the word go and kept their opponents pinned in their own territory.
The Quepem lasses didn’t take long to take the lead when Kumari made her way into the rival zone and placed the ball past the onrushing keeper, 1-0.
Crossing ends, Joizima doubled the lead with a neat placement, 2-0.
Earlier in semi-finals Pope John XXIII High School defeated Guardian Angel High School, Curchorem 5-0. Immaculate Conception HS defeated Guardian Angel Higher Secondary School Curchorem 3-1 via tie-breaker. For the third place, Guardian Angel HS defeated Guardian Angel HSS 2-0.
